“Having been following her work on Facebook & Twitter, I decided to book 6 sessions with Colette to help me lose a few stubborn pounds before my holiday. I’d never used a PT before. I have been a road cyclist for many years but had never done any serious strength or weights work. I wanted to challenge my body in a different way.
I found my first session tough but really enjoyed being challenged. Colette made each session different so I never knew what to expect. As a physiotherapist, I was very impressed with Colette’s knowledge and the wide variety of exercises she had at her fingertips. I’ve started using quite a few of them with my rehab patients at work.

“After seeing Eddie Izzard’s African fundraiser on TV, ’27 Marathons in 27 Days’, I felt rather pleased that he and I were in agreement on one particular point. When you are looking to achieve something that is important to you, it is necessary to have the right people beside you and the right equipment on board.
Eddie was not confident that he could complete the challenge that he’d set himself, so this time round he sought out experts in various fields who, between them, would give him everything that he needed to succeed in his venture. Eddie was accompanied by two doctors – one from England who was also his friend and who had treated him on numerous occasions, and one from Africa who knew the terrain and the likely problems that he would have to endure on the runs that he had set himself. He also had three Personal Trainers, all with different areas of expertise as well as drivers, friends and motivational coaches.
Unlike Eddie, I don’t have fame or TV money to employ so many people to help me to pursue my goals. My story thus far is this: Between 2010 and 2011, I managed, through sheer hard work, perseverance and determination, to lose 6.5 stone in weight. As everybody who has lost weight in the past realises, when you have lost the weight it is not the end of the journey – the next challenge is to keep it off. For five years, through carefully watching my diet and keeping up my exercise regime, I managed to keep the weight off. Towards the end of last year though I realised that I need to build some more structure and interest into my health regime to keep up my motivation.
It was at this point that I contacted Colette to see if she was able to offer me any support. We had a long chat and then started working on a number of initiatives which would help me to keep the body that I had worked so hard for. As the weeks went by we tried a number of things, such as taking vitamins, walking in the evening, listening to motivational podcasts, opting for water more often, and never underestimating the importance of a good nights’ sleep!”

“I have always struggled with my weight. Coming from a family who are ultra fit and very food conscious, I often felt as though I had failed them. I hated my body, hated the thought of going out and getting dressed up… occasions were a nightmare, I couldn’t wait to get home and put on my comfy pyjamas. I was bored so I’d eat, my days were unpleasant, and my comfort was to eat while watching TV. I wanted to change but it felt too hard, I was embarrassed, defensive and desperate. I had trusted too many people in the past that didn’t have my best interests at heart and I felt exposed. I had lost all understanding of food, what was right, what wasn’t, and was thoroughly confused.
I saw Colette around the school that my children go to, I had watched her for a while. She seemed approachable, confident and kind. After a few chats I realised she wasn’t going to tell me where I was going wrong, where I had gone wrong or why my whole life around food was wrong. Something told me that this was a different approach. That I would have an education. There was honesty from the get go, I wasn’t getting told off and there was no magic quick fix. There was no pressure just kindness and I felt a genuine want to actually help me and see me succeed.
I didn’t have to starve myself, sin myself, point myself or justify myself. My measurements were taken (at my request) and that was it! I got to speak about my family, my job, my worries and what makes me happy. I got to know others and their stories. Colette is patient, kind, understanding, so so knowledgeable, and honestly wants to see me and others succeed. Most importantly though, there is compassion. I have finally found someone who understands, who wants to help and who actually has the knowledge and experience to do so. How lucky am I?!
The future finally seems like a place I want to live it, not just exist through. I want to go out. I’m present, I’m active, I’m living.”

“For years, I’ve struggled with what was finally diagnosed as fibromyalgia. Constant pain and exhaustion (plus the lowered metabolism!) meant the weight crept on, and I was unable to do much about it.
